Questionable Decision making at various levels

Centurylink own properties that are not being fully utilized, and they have been poorly maintained.

Centurylink instead leases very high end office space to House their 2nd and 3rd levels.

Centurylink technician work trucks are rusty and peeling , are badly in need of a paint job and portray a poor image of the company to the public.

Centurylink pension is still underfunded.

Centurylink customer count is the lowest it’s ever been.

Centurylink offers no discount to their employees.

Centurylink continues to try to get employees to take engagement surveys, no one wants to take.

Centurylink management continues to misinform their employees about their long term intent and the reason for some of their decisions at the local level.

Centurylink is now talking about rebranding themselves.

Centurylink is not spending money to fix their problem areas.

So, what’s next?

The truck thing has been going on for years. It extends to techs not even having the tools they need to do their job. I had thought ctl would make things better when they 1st took over, as you heard less of this kind of thing happening right after ctl bought out qwest, but it appears to be cropping up again since L3 took over.

If the biggest expense is the employee, that also includes supervisors and 2nd and 3rd levels. We are all employees.

Centurylink needs to trim the fat of all these high paying supervisors and higher levels who have low numbers of employees under them. We have a very high ratio of mgrs to worker bees. There is absolutely no reason to have as many supervisors as we do. Concerning 2nd and 3rd level mgrs, we don’t need them locally everywhere. 1st levels can reports to 2nd and 3rd levels in other states. There is airplane travel if you need to have a face to face meeting or video conf.

Who is making these decisions here? Why are there so many supervisors and managers with very few workers under them?

I once had a CenturyLink pension and they cut it off years ago , let me keep working for years and then laid me off. Don' t ever put your future in the hands of a corporation however I did my best with their 401 K . CenturyLink is dying except for the lucrative contracts for Gigabyte data. The money will be invested in capital projects to keep the long haul side up to date with as few employees as possible. As one email that was sent out a few years ago " We all know the our biggest operating expense is the employee " .....
