I'm not here to decide whether Eddie was unethical or unlawful in his maneuvers over the years that hastened Sears' demise. However, I'm a new manager that will be out of work due to my location closing as part of the 142 store closings. What I'm hoping Bloomberg will pick up on is that the store I'm working in is both high volume and profitable. Every news article I could find clearly quotes Lampert and company executives as saying that Sears is closing underperforming and unprofitable stores. Of course this is a Seritage property and I fully understand the play here. However, as this store is high volume and profitable i question the ethics involved with making this decision to close. This is a 14mm sales volume and well run. Lampert and company will quickly make money on this lease site while 50 Sears associates will be turned to the street. Though I do question the business dealings of Sears and Lampert in recent years, I seriously call into question both the motives and ethics involved in closing a profitable store and making money off of a good mall located lease. This isn't what he's told the public that he's doing and he and Seritage appear to be profiting from Sears misfortunes. Take it to the street.

If you truly want a story, get a friend to schedule for home service and have one do a preventive maintenance check of the furnace and one tech scheduled to check their stove. Ask the tech questions, the answers will apply to all districts, and since it’s not your name or known address, it won’t backfire on the techs. These guys are being ran like dogs and told they aren’t doing enough and working 12-16 hour days. They are being told to sell not repair, and if they do anything their DM doesn’t like they are told it’s a write up. And I’m sure the store employees are being treated just the same but they get it said to their face instead of on a phone call sitting on the side of the interstate for an hour or longer being yelled at.

You could come into the closing store and pretend you work there. They have so many new faces they wouldn’t even know. I think it’s because if all the people that left since the news if closing.

Come to the closing store in Long Island. You can interview the managers as they stand outside and smoke.
