Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears auto center

So we can't order tires. Can't order oil. But are still being pushed to sell sell sell and to get new commercial customers. What kind of message does that send if I get a enterprise or avis to send me cars and then have to tell them sorry I don't have tires or oil for you. Az and advanced have both offered me jobs in the past week and I think I might take them up on it. I am salary so the slow down doesn't affect my check but I feel sorry for my csa's and techs. Since they are commission they are not making any money. How are the rest of the auto centers dealing with the slow down?

The "Smart Plan" circa 2015, 2016 appears to have finally collapsed the Automotive Business at Sears.

There are plenty of opportunities for technicians out there, and some for the best managers and Sales associates as well.

Unless rumors are true (that the Auto Centers are to be taken over by Monroe), this might be the best time to move on to a financially sable Service provider. With the current shortage of qualified technicians, Techs are calling the shots when it comes to compensation.

Good luck to all!

I just don't feel right selling road hazard or 1 year alignments knowing we will not be there to honor them. I talked to my manager and he agreed. He told us that we can ring up the 1 year alignments and price override it to the 6month price and to add road hazard but price override the tire to make up for it so we can still make the commission on it but the customer does have to pay for something they will never get to use.

Use your pcard...treat people like family. ..if you can't service them properly be honest...you'll sleep better and in the end this won't even be a memory...bad ones usually are erased....

There is a Bloomberg business reporter who is looking to talk to people. Let him know that this is happening. That will light an inferno under management to straighten this sh-- out. Just do it anonymously so you don't get hurt by it.

I was a previous auto center manager as well and got wind of what was coming. I jumped ship and took my techs with me. Do the same because there is no need to stay.

They told us not to use the pcard for tires. And it's not worth it to buy oil with the pcard to do an oil change. We would loose money on every oil change. They are still letting customers place orders online for tires we don't have knowing that the tires will never be sent. I wonder how long this can go on before they just close the auto centers.
