Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Another stepping

How many bad habits were made with “another stepping”. How is it the rest of the industry can survive w/o but intel product team needs this, poor discipline, poor quality control, poor planning or all of that?

Apple and NVidia nor AMD can’t afford issues either and seem to hit their product cadence more often than not.

Nothing like supporting another stepping to put poor discipline into the design and validation and firmware teams

The virtuous internal cycle of ineffeciency for job security purposes. It's interesting that from a worker in the fabs perspective they are just working more hours bc someone effed up. The entire system of different teams doing a half a55ed job "supporting" other teams being invisible to them.

Intel methodology is bizarre and antiquated, it exists solely to preserve obsolete empires like dteg and dts. Unsurprisingly, those organizations are dominated by Indians.

Ahahahaha CPU dev teams had the same idea, B0 PRQ

Except all the noble statements were drowned in a flood of political incompetence by nepotist FLM's who only wanted to cover their butts when the silicon came back unhealthy.

For a while, the chipset group had an initiative, “One stepping to PRQ”.

It was helpful! The Springdale chipset, for example, PRQ’d on A-1.

heck even after bugs and design flaws are triaged and root caused, the brown nosers at Intel spend more time pointing fingers and blaming others than fixing the problem and methodology, to protect their gang.

hence the next product will also need a bunch of steppings.

Nobody does more steppings to get to production

You think any company can be as wasteful in mask, silicon, , schedule or fab capacity.

Nobody is more wasteful of resource of the manufacturing than Intel product groups.
