Does the bullying, persecuting hate of Oxys work environment still lead to a high turnover of staff and a need to hire rejects from other companies? Is there still a culture of bullying from smirking bigots who have no problem looking over their shoulders for the rest of their lives, thinking it was worth it?

Can't say a huge amount about Accounting - I was in Facilities Engineering before I hired on with a professional company and escaped Oxy. However, looking at the bigger picture and the broader culture, I wouldn't expect too much of a change from all the other people who have put forward what Oxy really is on these boards. I do know accounting had the attitude that they run the company, regardless of the fact that Oxy is supposed to be an E&P, not an accounting firm. Arrogance isn't uncommon, especially at Oxy - its the justification for it that makes me chuckle (if it wasn't so downright sad). I'm sure you are worth your salt and should probably bide your time. I just got an offer from Oxy last week its in their accounting department, I was the one who had posted the previous post. Now I don’t know what to do because im just in another hamster wheel
position at another megacorp and seeking a change . I am EXTREMELY thankful for a job in this economy (knock on wood!) the new position is paying a lot more as well. Is the accounting department at oxy bad?
-Sdal, your experience isn't unique. Oxy has its reputation for many reasons. I have convinced several people to turn down offers from Oxy and I too have noticed the mountain of open positions with this company. Take the advice and info on this board and consider other opportunities. There are many good companies out there that will be worth you while - you don't need to work for a company like Oxy.
Guys I applied and interviewed at Oxy for a financial position and the HR seemed very incompetent. There was one mistake after the other made during the entire process, also I noticed that Occidental has a very few number of applicants compared to other companies- should i just stay away? Also last night i notices that a whole bunch was positions were advertised again on the Oxy job board including some HR positions and I am wondering if my HR rep actually quit. I am currently employed and I don’t want to jump into a nightmare helpp
