No middle managers knew anything. Especially the ones that were let go. Managers didn’t know subordinates were being terminated. Some smug faces must have been clued in. It was like the soul was ripped from the 21/23 floors in 3XSQ.
This is the coup de grace caused by incompetent people who were s---ing the blood of the masses and I mean incompetent like they have not even got the equivalent of GCSEs level ....
@1nep - the rumour we've heard is that Blackstone already have an eventual buyer for Refinitiv lined up. Won't be for 4 or 5 years.
Manager here too, no view of this. All agreed much further up.
I know Blackstone have been reviewing the different parts of the business in huge detail since March-April-May as I know people who presented to them.
I take a different view from most though. Previous re-orgs have been solely about the headcount and everyone having to lose 5%-10% (or whatever). This seems much more targeted to me as they're losing specific roles and teams, not hitting everyone, so in a perverse way kind of prefer it this time round.
As frustrating as it is, not knowing in advance who was going and who is safe is actually how redundancies SHOULD be done. Hearing people gloat that they're safe way before any official announcement was always pretty sh*t.
Middle managers know nothing. they are not part ot the decision making on who would go

I was told to hire someone and in the same breath was told they wouldnt really be doing what we are telling the person the role is now, but we would figure something for them to do just because that candidate has expert knowledge in ERP systems and the right contacts in industry. after the new hire started they figured out that they are screwed and call me regularl and randomly stop by to ask me questions and its awkward. it makes me think we are positioning our talent to clients we serve ir specific skills for a buy out....I cant figure any other reasoning. i think we are trying to look appealing after going lean so we can get a buyer's attention, if they don't already have one.
Whoever made the decision to let certain people go probably have no idea how and what that person is doing at all.
That’s why this is the worst lay-off in the history of TR. what a shame.
Same here, an experienced manager here. We were kept blind just like everyone else. Directors learned about things this week - many of them knew tiny bits and pieces of things that transpired but overall folks at mgr/dir level did not know anything
I am a manager and I knew absolutely nothing. Even my manager that is director level didn’t know much until last Thursday
i am a manager, but i have no say in this process. decision is made by my boss who is "global head of XXX"
