Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Let Them Eat Cake

Meanwhile TR increase payment to shareholders by 1.4%.

Wouldn’t you think it would be wise to have stalled these dividend increases over the years and invested the money into the company instead ?

Yes still pay a dividend but freeze the increase.

Once the invested money had turned the company around (new products etc), then shareholders would reap the benefits ?

However it seems to be ....increase the dividends whatever the cost to the company.

It was really weird that they chose to buy back shares rather than invest in the company. I didn't sell because I see it as legalized insider trader.

“The company as grown at like 1%. What do you want to invest in? More people that dont work? More process?“

Err less people like you who think flat to 1% growth is healthy and growth doesn’t require investment.

Sorry you feel that employees at TR didn’t contribute. Yes a few were waiting for retirement or redundancy , but a majority of the people I worked with were professionals and certainly not free wheeling.
