We all have setbacks in life. We have to stay strong and go in headstrong with a good attitude. Tomorrow, when you go in to work, be thankful you have a job. It could be worse. But guess what? It's a setback Everybody and everything eventually has a setback. What determines the outcome of a setback is tenacity and approach. Nothing good ever comes of a tendency to give up or throw in the towel. Nothing good ever comes with a poor or negative attitude.
Guess what? Dealing with our setback is manageable. We owe $135 million. If we go in to this with a can-do attitude, we will have that paid off and then some.

Have a sunny disposition with every interaction. Remember the old saying first impressions are lasting ones. One or two people have a bad experience in our stores and the viciousness spreads like wildfire. Oftentimes those are exaggerations or lies. Regardless, give the public a reason to share positive things with other people. Smile, straighten your collar, shine your shoes, have a positive outlook.

Keep your stores neat, straighened and clean. I have been to some wonderful Kmart stores and wonderful Sears stores. I have also noticed that some other stores have been slacking. We have no room for slack. Get some positive energy going. Mopey dopeys don't get things accomplished. See the first point.

Go the extra mile. If you've been assigned tasks, do extra if time allows. Get an extra cart of receipts put away. Sweep the floors. Set an example to all the new seasonal hires.
-
Get the word out. Rally your community and get people in the doors. Get your managers to hold events. Pass out flyers. Show them the fabulous deals that they can obtain at our stores.

Cut waste. Cut waste in materials and time. Less waste equals lower expenses.
Do these things and we will forge ahead on to bigger and brighter things!
