Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

These are the facts.

Rumors need to STOP. The only definite facts are:

1) Leadership will be laid off again and again and again. When it’s your time it’s your time.

2) Everyone says wait till the next quarter. It does’nt matter. They lay you off during a good quarter, and lay you off during a bad quarter. YOU WILL BE LAID OFF NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU WORK.

3) If you still work for SeaWorld, you need to get use to LIVING IN FEAR, as YOU CHOOSE to live in fear. No one feels sorry for you as you choose a risky gamble of a job. BE AN ADULT and live with the consequences that you put yourself through.

4) SeaWorld will continue to perform poorly as they can not compete against Disney and Universal. You get what you pay for. SeaWorld hires employees and managers who were rejected from both companies. LOW PAY = LOW PERFORMANCE and LOW MORAL.

I got laid off in the last layoffs and I feel WONDERFUL I don’t live in a miserable job culture that SeaWorld created.

Yes it's called a Severance package. All companies do that, when they lay off employees.

What? They pay for the laid off people not to work and they refuse to pay us anything above 40 hours? Is this true?

Easy for you to say. The last layoffs were salaried managers. Salaried managers got 6 months of thier regular pay and paid health coverage included. Nice to sit at home and do nothing for half a year while we are the ones working to make sure Seaworld has the money to pay you to sit. Lucky you!

This post makes me rethink working for Sea world. I use to tell my self if I was working for saving the animals and the team bonds created over the 11 years of working in the parks. Now I work for a park that rather spend the money on failed rides (Kraken VR and the lateness Infinfity Falls) than the animals. I finally see Sea world has lost its identity. Zoological still believes we are animal based, Operations says we’re ride based. No one really knows anymore. No one knows where we’re going. My respect in our senior leaders and leaders are gone. They have moved up in this park not because of their knowledge, but because if seniority. They have no record of making anything better and we continue to trust them. Atleast I know when I am laid off, I can say I made a difference in the lives of the animals.
