Expanding the fixed Wi-Fi service- a little optimism for a change

Maybe it’s too early to say anything, but I see this expansion of fixed Wi-Fi services onto new markets as something that can at least stabilize WS and give us a positive boost that we desperately need right now.

I'm mighty afraid 5G will kick he Windstream butt!

Like other poster, must have got a deal "they think" on some fixed wireless gear.

I"m anxious to see and use a 5G puck soon as I can see and touch.

Fixed Wi-Fi or fixed microwave? The later is very (VERY) old tech, line of sight, limited, reliability can be impacted by weather depending on frequency. In other words, a dumb idea compared to 4 and 5g. Must have got a good deal on used gear on eBay and trying to market it as something it isn’t.

They need to invest more in the network instead of buying companies, but then again with the money going to all the bonuses for the VP's, it is easy to see why there is nothing left to invest in the network.

Verizon at leasts put money back into investing into their networks: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/verizon-invests-networks-enhance-customer-135601865.html - and they have wireline AND wireless. See how easy that is, TT?

You invest in the network, not into one of your exotic vacations, and you might actually keep customers and have a stock price that isn't on life support. Right now you can barely keep what network you have from crashing from lack of upgrades. Resign now and you can still take your exotic trips to wherever.

Why would anyone buy 5G service from Windstream when there are other reliable providers developing a nationwide 5G offering? Even the Fed is investing tax dollars in 5G... Why, because it is the future of wifi and internet access.... landline is dead

We need to stay ahead of the curve and beat out 5G and then end of wholesale access pricing.

Not to mention that the product is cr@p. Anytime the wind blows or it rains or snows guess what??? The service is out. That's if you're on a dedicated frequency and not sharing the public 5Ghz space. And in that case, any knucklehead can come along and turn up a signal and guess what??? Yours goes to sh1t!

Yeh this will save WS just like SDWAN is. Just ask the future layoffs in the ERC how well they support it currently.

Then you must never have sold this product. I went through ALL of the pre-sales processes before signing a customer up for this service. It never got installed after a year. Windstream only cares that they got a signed agreement. No one cared that we put the customers business in jeopardy by never being able to install it. Then they wanted me to go back and sell the customer something else at double the price.

Price renting space on a roof downtown. It is far from cheap. It takes a decent investment just to get the site online. Now you have to sell enough customers just to break even on your rent for that roof access at a minimum.

It's a product that seems to sell like crazy in some markets, while it's shunned in others.

Nothing wrong with expansion, that is always a good thing. Every little bit helps
