Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Is it wise to try to beat Amazon at their own game?

I didn’t see a lot of positives in this story while I was reading. I understand the need to appeal to wealthier customers and e-commerce is, without a doubt, a growing market which we have to adapt to. On the other hand I see a lot of Walmart’s resources (not to mention a lot of money) being put into Jet in the near future. Amazon is a vet of online sales and all of its infrastructure and knowledge are targeted at doing that kind of business. I just don’t see the possibility of us taking them on. Maybe we should stick to doing what we do best.

@V82spcf-zhf - Your right in the sense that WMT does not know it's clientele - The store associates know who their shopper is but the current leadership or consultants do not.....they think it is the same people that they see shopping in the high end stores......How many BMW's and Mercedes are actually in the WMT Stores parking lot?

WM has tried to go upscale before and it's failed miserably.

It's as wise as General Custer taking on the Lakota Tribe at Little Big Horn

Walmart doesn’t know their clientele and that’s a problem. They are way too focused going upscale it’s a joke.
