The latest "strategy" for 5G. Expand effort on designing a chip on Intel process that will never be productized. Then 6 months later use same RTL to be manufactured by TSMC.
Effectively they know the design is DOA and will need several respins that TSMC won't waste time supporting.

@1jvz is correct, ex-Infineon guys came out eventually to defend themselves. If my memory was right, back in 2010/11 when Intel purchased Infineon, the media was reporting they were going bankrupt and Intel was saving them. Only in this site they claim they were profitable.
@1jvz What is your point? The wireless division was indeed profitable when it was sold. It didn’t have a viable mid-/long-term strategy to remain profitable, but at the time it was making money. That is a simple fact. What does that have to do with „defending“ anything? It only shows that you had once chosen to build an argument based on false information, and you are still butthurt that someone caught you.
To be honest the new architecture will take years to debug. I'd start looking elsewhere now
In the past whenever someone posted something negative about the ex-Infineon team, those German would come out and said all critics were wrong. For example, when I mentioned Infineon was almost bankrupt when they sold their business to Intel they said the wireless unit was in fact profitable. I haven't seen anybody defending the ex-Infineon team lately, wonder where they've gone ?
Credit for the 7560 respins does not go the the German sites except some ACTing and losing key people due to shifting responsibilities away. Honestly, wondering myself how long it actually took. Bugs in the RTL do not disappear by miracle with the following tape out. But was Intel decision to let people go.
