Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Do you think your store should close?

A little informal poll here. The company announced more store closings just a few weeks ago. My former store was on the list which is no surprise - the drastic decline in sales in why I bailed in 2015. The question I'm posing: Is your store currently open and on no immediate list? But, at the same time, is it an empty shell too much of tje time and a waste of utilities? If so, enter the store number and/or city. If you wish, offer an explanation, too.

This post pretty much says it. No one really thinks there store should remain open. Except maybe that store in Guam.

1213 Auburn Massachusetts. Should have closed years ago. Gets worse with every new person brought in to work there. No customers. Just a dismal experience.

1171 is a shell of its former self. Oh, wait, that's the entire company.

I thought 1273 would ride it out longer. I was not expecting it to close this soon.

Our store just seems completely incapable of hiring anyone, so we're lucky if we can even schedule two or three register operators and service desk associates combined, and luckier still if they actually all show up as scheduled. Floor associates who are desperately needed to get freight out, do layouts, answer calls, etc., are forced to be stuck on register all day. Of course, with it being as bad as it is, we can't even afford to fire anyone for attendance infractions or else we'd be totally out of workers.

I've even heard whispers that the DM has suggested starting new hires at a higher rate than people who have been here for ten+ years make currently. That would be the ultimate insult to existing workers.

I work at a busy Kmart. It should close. For every $50 sold, it seems half gets returned. There is virtually no theft management, so I get a ton of empty packages to process all day. Then there are the SYW points. What a nightmare. Won't even get into it.

I work at 2885 and can't believe we are still open. The place is a ghost town. I was here when this was a 16 million dollar a year store. what a shame.

All of them will be closed eventually, or sooner rather than later

Exactly what value does Sears add?

Everyone is missing one important fact. It doesn't matter if your store is losing money or making money. This company has been designed to go out of business and to capture every penny it can before it dies. We are in the last chapter of the story, With out Eddie's money this company would have been out of business years ago.

My Sears store got busier with others closing. We were told we were making a profit then the closing announcement was made. One of the current 46 closing.
