Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

I think everyone needs to look at the bigger picture of where we are going..

It was mentioned by Patel that Centurylink was losing lower revenue lines but was gaining higher revenue lines in the form of higher speed data lines such as the (1gig). It was said that this was a good thing. The numbers he gave, show gains in high speed and losses in others. It was also mentioned about focusing on cloud services .

It appears that Centurylink is gaining higher speed customers but, losing dial tone, lower speeds and prism customer faster than they are gainer newer customers.

Is this a problem? Yes.. lower customer count = Lower renewable revenue = a lot less employees needed.

Am I concerned? very much so... I think all the employees need to be. Less consumer product ordered-- Less revenue--less work for the techs --It means ( listen carefully) less techs needed...(which means less supervisors needed also). More cloud services--means--less carrier, network and I/R techs and less supervisors.

Centurylink is positioning themselves in a new way, into a new environment for the future. Its just a matter of time, of how it all falls into place.. Its a new day coming..- Wake up

Stop the bickering and see the bigger picture. Should we be concerned as employees (both techs and Supervisors)... ahhhh .. Yes.. I think so...

How many of us will still have a place in this newly forming environment. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the employees who manage to survive the coming changes and evolve with Centurylink in the future.

Actually the next wave was postponed until 10/1 or so. Management is getting gutted: if you have less than 18 employees - you are on the chopping block or will be absorbing a lesser managers crew. All promotions and raises are on hold for the foreseeable future for management. Everyone at every level is being hit. the company is losing years of knowledge and great employees over the entire country to improve stock prices. Union - non union, it does not matter: do your research, look down the road instead of what is right in front of you - this company is in perrill will little hope of "keeping up with the Jones". Perfect example, I know several people that were laid off, I resigned. When it came time to end the concessions; each one of us saved over $12.00 a month due to the fact that all plans were now available to ex-employees. If you are an employee - you are paying more for CTL services. CTL maybe paying you but they are making money off of you at the same time. UNIFYING PRINCIPLES are just a collection of words that mean nothing to your Supervisor, Director, VP, and CEO - and ever level between you and Jeff Storey.

Time to get any medical procedures done and get to the doctor while you still have insurance.

The effects of the new MAX system made ABC News 21 Investigates in the Capitol of PA on the 11pm news. HUNDREDS of unhappy customers called them to complain about five and six weeks to get repairs or installs because of the new illustrious MAX system, that is killing the company.

Centurylinks answer? Our new dispatch system will fix all this! Hahahahahahaha so they claim the system that is causing all these problems is the fix! Too sad.

They posted the number for the PUC and complaints are rolling in. Social media has their teeth into it and they are killing us. It is to the point you have to hide to eat your lunch so you don't get beat up or have to answer uncomfortable questions. This place just can't survive much longer.

I am in agreement with the last comment. I believe something will happen in the last quarter before thanksgiving. In the past the company has always done layoffs or packages before thanksgiving. It has to do with the budget.

This new dispatch is what is killing us, along with the company cutting all that they can. We are so headed for another round of layoffs come November, who will be on that list is hard to say at this point. I feel that the past level 3 leaders which is now our present CEO and others in that capacity are trying to kill this off for some reason we haven't figured out yet but we will know more come October.

I agree. I am in Desktop Support and our jobs are being outsourced to Tech Mahindra in India. As of 11/2/18 the majority of the desktop support group will be terminated.
