Is it true you guys are eligible for maximum of eight weeks of pay for severance, no matter how many years you've been with the company? Somebody told me this and I find it hard to believe that they would cap it so low.
Is the situation really that bad over there?
The last change in severance was when I quit after 22 years. Up to then, if I'd been 'pushed' I'd have walked away with close to 6 months worth of pay in my pocket. After the change, 8 weeks.
I've already made that 8 weeks in extra pay and bonuses at my new job... and I don't have to keep looking over my shoulder to see where the Sword of Damocles is...
I hear you, @5pwh. Same with us. The account I work on outsourced us to what was then HPE and they pretty much regret it. I am thinking they will bring it back in house when the contract expires in 2020. Too bad most of us who actually know what the systems do are gone.
When we worked for EDS/HP/HPE, our severance package in the US was more. I believe it was either 6 or 8 weeks, plus one week for every year up to 20 years.
I work on a customer account and my loyalty is with them, not DXC. I'm hoping that we don't renew the contract and that our customer picks us up.
This is really poor , even for the WRF machine (HP and it's derivatives). I agree with the other posters, get your self together and leave, move on. Good Luck to All!!!

3 to 5 years 4 weeks
5 to 9 years 5 weeks
9 to 15 years 6 weeks
15 years or more 8 weeks maximum
Glad I got my 40K Severance before DXC days. It was sweet. Taxable but sweet. Life is good. Sitting good in retirement and don't have to mess with the politics, backstabbing, arrogance, I am better than you attitude, and the good folks are gone. What a ugly environment to work in. Pay is not everything people. The axe will be coming your way when you least expect it. Get out while you can.

Yes - the maximum is 8 weeks and they give you notice on Thursday that you are done Friday.
@gme I'm sorry, I might have not expressed myself properly with English being my second language. I didn't mean everybody gets 8 weeks, I asked if that is the maximum somebody can get, even if they were with the company for 20+ years for example.
I am so happy I do not live and work in US. Here in Sweden, normally you have a 6 month test period. After that, if you have worked a shorter period like 2 years you get salary 3 months, does not matter if you resign yourself. There is a period when you worked a certain time but is less than 55 years old, then you get 6 months salary. If you have worked in the company more than 10 years and is 55+, you get your salary a year if the company fires you, and if the company want to select people they want to get rid of they have to come with a good offer, like another year salary or early retirement, otherwise the law says they have to give 6 months heads-up and then the last employed will the ones that has to leave. But if you resign yourself you only get 3 months.
And I have heard it is almost impossible to fire someone in France, Germany and Italy.

This is not true. If you have worked here less than three years you are eligible for only 2 weeks of severance. Once you have worked here for three years you are eligible for four weeks severance. You do not reach eight weeks severance until you have worked here for 15 years or more, and that is the maximum.
