Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

My groups numbers have dropped over 50%

My groups numbers have dropped over 50% since the first big layoff. The latest verp set the age at 55 and decreased the kicker to 50k.

We have one new guy. He’s great at what but we lost a lot of experience and knowledge to the layoff and people leaving because they tired of the drama.

Basically, my group is over worked and understaffed. I I saw the verp email and got excited. Now I’m just waiting on a package while doing more because we have less.

In Seagate Springtown we still have not been told what the profit share is supposed to be,we also havent been told if there is or isnt a payrise. Why would management be holding back that info? My guess is that they are seeing what they can cream off before giving the leftover sc-aps to the "lowly workers".

We've been told nothing about profit share or payrise

It aint so bad. Everyone I know got good raise and profit share. A lot of companies only gave $500 bonus for tax cut savings. Peanuts compared to Seagate’s bonus.

I also wish I was offered verp, rather than just being walked to the door (every little bit helps)... "I'd have to fight rampant age discrimination in hiring practices, but I bet I could get something comparable within 3 months."...took me 8 months, and most of my severance, but I now make more as a new hire than I did after 25 years with Seagate.

We'll have to wait a couple more years before this farce is completely up I think. I'd love a layoff pack and then get a better job. I'd have to fight rampant age discrimination in hiring practices, but I bet I could get something comparable within 3 months. People will say quit complaining and leave now, but they do not understand how much money would be passed up. I'd have to get a huge salary bump to make it worth while. People still here have work ethic and it is a core principle and so do not get high on the layoff list. If Seagate really wants to get rid of all the old experienced people right away, they can cut the severance package. That would do it, but they don't want to do that quite yet. LOL.

"TOP" did the same everywhere, headcount reduced until minimum, but operation still need to sustain with same workload some area loaded with more and more. "TOP" very welcome self resignation to meet budget deduction on the FY19.

I hear ya. We went from 10 down to 2 and the same or higher workload. No appreciation whatsoever for anything we do, only whining and complaining about the work output slowing down if anything.
