Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What does Intel pay you?

The median salary for Facebook employees ($240,000), Google parent Alphabet ($197,000) and Netflix ($183,000) are among the most generous in the U.S., according to a survey of 2017 compensation by Equilar.

@UujryTN-2hwb, let's say everything you said is true, what compels you to read thelayoffs forum? Also, since you don't work at Intel, why bother reading the Intel forum? This is a good example of why we shouldn't trust everything we read online.

lol... My salary in SoCal as a senior engineer outside Intel currently sits $200k, excluding bonus and stock. The hours I save from having better work life balance than people in bay area afford me time to run a $100k/year net small side surf business, and I get to take an 1.5 hour lunch break surfing.

My home only costs about $1.5 million and 5 minutes to the beach. İt's paid off. That same amount would cost some bay area slop $3 million..İnstead, he ends up spending $5000/month to rent a dump SFH in Santa Clara, and his higher W2 wage income is subject to 39.5%+ state and federal income tax, and an excessive Medicare tax...Maybe that's why so many higher paid engineers and even doctors in the Bay area have no choice and still rent and why google and Facebook find it so hard to hire senior people from other geographic locstions???

@1otr Before I left this year, management showed me a study commissioned by CB back in 2005 to try to prove Intel pay was above average, then in 2006 they did a massive market adjustment anyways. I pointed out the study was 13 years old and showed my offer letter with a significant double digit raise. No response. The irony is I was replaced with 3 RCG's who cost more and know less combined.

The situation would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.

Highly paid job in Intel is not engineer job even carry engineer title. Like some PE, sr PE, they have engineer title but do not do actual engineer work.

Intel actually believes they pay better than average. If so, it is far below superior companies. They throw all the $$ equivalent benefits into the equation to try and convince employees how good the pay is. Joke.

Intel is a manufacturing company. You can't compare with software services companies.

@1bol Right? Making everyone spend 9 to 5 in useless skype meetings leaving one hour a day to do work is not going to yield results, but the toxic politics of visibility and bloviation plus mo--nic management means that is and always will be the intel way.

You know Intel employs mo--ns when @blj confuses average with median.

No wonder nothing is going well at this company. My 6th grader knows the difference.

i got a 50% raise after I left intel, hardware engineer. The work load was crazy at intel, but when I joined my new company, it was a breeze. Why? Because Intel's work culture is garbage.
