I worked at Sears for 25 years and moved on to another retail job around 5 years ago and I can tell you that any manager or DM or higher who looks for a job in the retail world will find that most companies will not hire you. This is due to the unprofessional nature of SHC as well as the lack of modern retail thinking and technology that SHC has a reputation for. The other reason is that no retailer wants to hire someone who was part of a company who did not transform to a modern retail environment and modern retail reality. I now work for Kohls and we are thinking outside the box.

Our DM got canned about a month ago and supposedly we have a new one from the Kmart side but I’ve yet to hear he has been to our store.. even if it’s just to introduce himself and to get to know our store and the workers
When these guys get new districts consisting of new stores it should be a requirement to spend 3-4 days at the new stores under their control so he/she can meet each and every worker in that store

Future employers tend to view managers from failing companies as inferior candidates; they are suspected of being a contributing factor to the company's failure. Lower level workers are viewed more sympathetically; they are just powerless victims of incompetent and unethical management.
They sure won't be looking down their noses at the workers who bust their butts anymore, will they?
