That Sears isn't going anywhere. We are just in a restructuring process. My store manager said so.

My store manager said the reason the attached mall was boarding up stores was to remodel. Then one day bulldozers showed up.
Our ops manager said the same thing the day before he was let go.
I'm sure that there were store managers at other Sears stores said the same thing and then their store closed

I almost want to think that Sears store/district/region managers, corporate middle managers and executives say these things because they have to in an attempt to assuage concerns, but there are quite a few of them out there who truly and sincerely believe that Sears is in for a bright future with some exciting times ahead.
It's one thing to say that everything is fine and not actually believe it at the end of the day since doing anything otherwise would scare everyone away and hasten the demise of the business but it's quite another to be so delusional, even though all the evidence you could possibly need is right in front of you and it's saying Sears is not long for the world.
Our DM, who is awesome, finally told us the truth and said that SHC is doomed. There is no transformation or any way that SHC can survive in the current form. He said that he is just sticking it out until he can find another job. I guess he had a little bit of conscience hit him. He did not go into details but he said that his take was that SHC would be done by the end of the year.
Our Store manager, an ASM and a couple of leads...all with at least a decade of service with Sears have left the company within the past few months....They saw the writing on the wall as far as the decline of the company.
As others have said, don't believe in what your SM tells you because they honestly don't know jack. Trust me, from the store manager and downwards corporate tells them nothing because they don't want them to know the truth until the very last minute.
