Wellness center closing

Just got the mail that the wellness center is closing this month. The gym is now going to be free and unstaffed. Certainly feels like the end is near.

Dude, they know. Can't blame them for taking a paying job though. And many work in ordering stuff, finance, vendor relations, it maintaince, ect ect ect.

Let's also not for get the countless other companies under the rainbow umbrella that feed the walking zombie

@1kcj-- So the major changes at HE are that the food court is getting smaller and that the wellness center is closing and the gym is now free.

While here at the store level the changes are loss of hours, loss of benefits, loss of jobs, unsafe and unhealthy working conditions, more work with less people but same expectations from management for sales and metrics, broken equipment, broken stores, and having to deal with dissatisfied customers for things out of our control.

And HE wonders why there is a disconnect between HE and the stores and the bad feelings the store level people have.

Well, here's a thought... Maybe if you had lost your 'wellness center' AND your gym, like a year ago, maybe some of THE HUNDREDS OF ASSOCIATES IN THE FIELD WOULDN'T HAVE LOST THIER LIVELIHOODS!

Ugh. SMH

Ummmm.....How about NO! Loser.

Comments about lack of security and empty buildings with weird little unnatended rooms with showers. Can anyone say "rape room"? And worse, can anyone deny it if no one is around to hear possible victims scream?

Sounds scary as hell

The "drain the swamp" poster needs to jump into the swamp as the phrase is worn out and well beyond relevance by now.

Nobody is complaining. Just pointing out how things are changing at the head office.

The Wellness Center opened in 1992 with the original opening of the HE complex. In addition to a gym, they had a nurse who could treat very basic ailments.

These amenities are very common in a complex designed to house 8000 in a corporate office environment.

We who work at the store level get our workouts by unloading trucks (weightlifting), moving shelving and counters (leg and back workout), stocking shelves (bending and stretching), walking up stairs (stair-stepper), walking the floor (if we walk fast it is cardio), all for minimum wage. That is our gym membership. Quit complaining

The Wellness Center is closing and the gym is now free. We all know what the gym is....but what is the Wellness Center? Are there other health-related activities like exercise classes and screenings there?

I say take advantage of it while you still have it and yes the end is very near. Not really surprised they were charging you all to workout...guess every dime counts.

Free cause there's no equipment. You get to run around the empty room all you like though

When did they sell all this equipment because I see lots of people going to workout everyday. This is part of the email sent out today:

In an effort to allow associates to continue their healthy lifestyle commitments, beginning Monday, August 20, 2018, the Sears Fitness Center will be unstaffed and free to those who work at Hoffman and will no longer require a payroll deduction. Hours of operation will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What so you mean free? They sold all the equipment to lifetime fitness in Hoffman Estates

Yes in Hoffman Estates. Wellness center closes 8/17 and the gym will now be free with no one on site effective 8/20. Definitely adds to the uncertainty.
