Fisher-Price also hit by layoffs

A Mattel spokesman confirmed today that cut would affect approximately 50 employees in East Aurora, most of whom are in back-office support functions. As of March 30, about 760 employees worked for Fisher-Price and Mattel in East Aurora.

That article in the Buffalo News is complete garbage. It stated "According to the last count there were 770 employees in East Aurora." The article DIDN'T say that count must have been from 1993! Anyone actually on the campus knows it's been a ghost town for several years now. There can't be 250 here. Either that or we're counting mice too. Now there's 50 more live bodies gone. Hellllllooooooooooo?????? That's what you have to shout down the hallways to find another human being. There is far more empty space here than not. Everyone left is totally burned out and bummed out.

Affirmative. "Back office" includes research. Half of the El Segundo research department was let go last week. I thought they included the EA research folks as well. If they didn't then start packing your bags. You're the next to go.
