Look - Intel is just another version of GM. The biggest member of a mature industry's oligopoly. As long as they keep making transistors on silicon with lithography it's really no different than making cars with internal combustion engines and rubber tires. Nothing fundamental will change, just incremental improvements with one guy gaining a brief advantage over another.
All the manufacturers try to wow you with the latest thing coming soon, but there are no more glory days coming. Is a GMC pickup really fundamentally different now than it was 30 years ago? Neither is a silicon chip.
Just get used to these facts. It's not a sexy, high growth, high margin industry anymore
What makes Intel so great is all the free bananas that are smuggled into the t----- bathrooms to give them something to do.
@1idq - Wall Street doesn't care NOW - it took them a lot longer than many of us here or on other boards/chat groups to figure out. It was only this week that all of the Street turned on Intel - before then it was mostly only Bernstein's SR - who is originally a PhD engineer himself.
@1drk - Wall Street doesn't care. And they are right.
Intel raised it's full year 2018 guidance by more than 4 BILLION dollars in last 6 months. This increase is more than 3/4 of AMD's total revenue.
record bonus at Intel is still way below market
Record revenue and record bonuses. So all is well, in spite of 10 nm delays. They keep raising the guidance. Hopefully, will beat even the current targets and make it to 70 billion dollars.
tbh the priority of middle management is the same as always : political fights, gaming focal, removing dissenters, building empires.
they could not give a damn about product success
The board is nuts.
