Do all you people actually sit around and wait to get tapped on the shoulder. Sounds like. Shi**y way to go through life. Understand that nothing lasts forever, have a contingency plan, and get on with your life.

Unless you are terminated for cause (i.e., poor performance, s-xual harassment, etc...), and your job is either eliminated or has moved more than 50 miles from Home Office, Allstate has no choice but to offer you severance in accordance to company policy. They would otherwise face legal legal challenges.
Seriously, what are they going to do if only, let's say half moves? Severance, or outright you're fired?
