Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Sabre GLBL visa

Exactly a year ago, Sabre cut lot of jobs in Southlake but this site shows they filled 116 labor certifications....they are laying off people and filing visas doesn't make sense.......I guess most of these jobs are tech jobs.....interestingly most are entry level contributor jobs......why not hire someone locally and train them....

They were incorrect. Check the website. Average salary in 2017 for H1B and Greencard holders was $117k but most of them were senior level not junior.

@Uk7kdXf-4rqw - i have not checked the website he linked but maybe you should check that before accusing someone of being a lier? Also you might be the one misinformed and might be making less money but, as a manager, I know many in my own team who make 90k plus in a contributor and well over 150k for senior roles in DFW area.

@Uk7kdXf-1zvo you are really good at B.S..

H1 junior developer avg salary is 117k!?

We don't work for Facebook/Google/GoldmanSac.

I guess Contributors are paid 65-80k, Seniors are paid around 80-100k, and yes a few Team Leads might make 117k.

And these depend on market rate.

why are we not hiring "Local"?

If you mean US born by local, we had many of them on our team & most of them left due the on going uncertainty & layoffs. H1s cannot change jobs easily and so they stay. And if you know a manager hiring friends & family of his or another manager please do us all a favour by reporting it to HR.

H1Bs, like most foreign workers working in the US, are sending much of their earnings back to the family in another country. A few thousand a month in their country supports a lot of family members. If we hire and keep them in their country, we can pay a decent local salary of $1000 per month or less.

Because Sabre is stupid and s---s. And if things don't pick up, they can just tell the contractors "As of Friday you are no longer needed", six months down the line.

The average salary for those junior H1B developers is over $117k!

If there really are no US citizens who could do those jobs for that salary then at least those H1Bs are spending their $117k in the US instead of Sabre paying $117k to hire an entire offshore team who spend their salaries outside the US.
