Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Pearson National Sales Meeting

How can Pearson afford to have a Sales Meeting in San Diego this week after laying off so many? More unlimited drinking and eating at fine restaurants on the backs of students paying for their labs that don’t work properly. Surely the “favorites” will have a grand ole time blowing the companies loot on entertainment and social activities in the evenings.

To the cheerleader- you're super annoying. And it's getting old you coming on here to call everyone stupid.

I ask you this- do you ever think about how unethical this company is? They can't even give out employee rankings because they lie about it. Changing numbers constantly. Different rules apply to different people. Do you truly believe they have YOUR best professional and personal interest at heart? If you say yes, then you're flat out lying. The reason people come on here is because they see what's happening to a once great company. Everyone is looking to leave- trust me. On to an ethical comapny that truly cares and values it's employees.

This is my 15th (I think) NSM with Person, and most likely my last. I've had a great run, exceeding goal all but 2 years of my career, but I just can't take it anymore. Every few years, a new crop of Senior Leaders emerge in the sales organization, and it takes but a year for the to morph into a version of the last Senior Leadership. From the trite motivational quotes, to the faux empathy, to the tweets about "mindset" & "grit", to the constant sunshine blown up the ss of all the Reps, this once great company has become a case study what happens when you lose focus of all the things that made the Pearson great to begin with. Some companies succeed by putting customers first, while others win by putting employees first. Pearson has clearly shown they don't give a sht about either.

Good Riddens!

How about that [dog] food at the Top Performers awards last night?

Did they do a moment of silence for all of those who were laid off? Or better yet, did they recognize them if they were a goal achiever and then said they would have their award sent to them?

Lots of stupidity. If you are a disgruntled employee HERE at the NSM—I ask WHY? Pack your sh-- and leave. Seriously, you’re wasting your time—which, again shows your stupidity.

The P&C sales meeting fashion show is my favorite annual event. It's a sales meeting, not the f-ing prom!

It’s as you would expect. Meeting started today at 1. Everyone flew in yesterday.

P&C reps walking around with their tags still attached to every new outfit they bought for this meeting. New Louis Vuitton’s everywhere you look. M&S reps too hungover to talk. We’re stuck inside the Marriott staring at the Pacific Ocean plotting our exit from the god awful company wondering why we are still here.

Can anyone update us on how the Pearson NSM is going this week? How are they handling the layoffs?

So many people have been laid off that everyone - 21 year old clown rookie to 20 year vet - gets their own room at the Marriott Marquis or Ritz Carlton or St Regis or JW these days. Execs get suites for their stellar performances and ability to eliminate positions. Can't wait for the pep rally tomorrow! Woo hoo! Goooooooo team!
