The media needs to do an exposé on what happens at store level that forces good managers and pharmacists to make bad decisions.

The intimidation is out of control . They threaten managers because upper mgmt threatens DL’s, it’s gotten so bad I heard of a DL daring a manager to call HR and laughing? Is this the company we work for?

Just remember pharmacists are not the doctors lackey. We practice under our own licenses and assume all responsibility on all prescriptions coming into to that store. We have every right to question every prescription walking in that door. Should this have been handled with discretion, absolutely. Does the pharmacist have a right to question and/or document the use of a female hormones in a male patient for liability and audit purposes, ABSOLUTELY!

So....it goes without saying this whole story is awful. With that being said, this has nothing to do with the company's policies and a whole lot to do with an overzealous pharmacist thinking they can override a doctor's orders because they felt like they conflicted with their beliefs. (In this case also illegal) Then trying to out them for being trans...it's all sorts of wrong and CVS did the absolute right thing in firing them, Don't give me this crap that it is the company's fault or "protect our image" that someone has a worldview that discriminates against someone. If you owned your own mom and pop store and your employee did this to a customer you'd lose major amounts of business and probably not blink an eye at canning them. It doesn't matter even if the stores had a million hours or no customers, people will do stupid things like this and company's have a responsibility to resolve them quickly.

Corporate doesn't know what goes on at the stores. The verbal intimidation, threatening antics, and shady favortism resulted in tons of really good managers to walk. The fall will be great just ask the Sears corporation.
