Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Job security

Is there ever going to come a time when we are not fearing layoffs? I was just thinking that for the past year, I can't remember a day I wasn't worried that something was coming.

Are we even in a position to turn around the company enough so that job security is once again one of the perks? Or has that ship sailed?

The answer to the second part of the question is. No there is no way that the current C level executives can turn this company around as it exists today. The financials speak for themselves. They will however continue to blow smoke and act like they have a plan that will work. Soon it on steam and find some more meaningless metrics around productivity to keep everyone of you minions occupied while the ship sinks around you. It’s just a matter of time at this point.

Unfortunately, this industry is not alone in the idea that laying employees off will solve the many problems that inadequate, self serving upper management has gotten the company into. Today's business world believes in growth by acquiring other companies struggling with massive debt and the primary resolution seems to be getting rid of headcount. The top dogs are immune to the plight of their employees, they just don't give a damn. Find a smaller company to work for if you want anything that resembles security.

The business plan has been to buy a company for its assets - promise to layoff employees, then lay off employees. So it has been a a always will be this way. There never has and never will be job security,

Sorry to break it to you, just the way the company works - want security? Quit and find work with a company that has a different business model

I dont think well ever have real security, even if things magically get better. That's just the nature of the beast im afraid. I do think it could get better than it is now, but i suspect we have some tough times ahead before then.
