Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Can anybody tell me how it's done?

I'm relatively new to Windstream, and I honestly have no idea what to expect. If layoffs do take place today, how will the people affected be notified?

Is it a one-on-one meeting with a manger, phone call, email? Will we have time to pack our stuff or do we get escorted right out?

I'd appreciate any info.

The office techs I've seen let go were taken to a conference room for privacy and escorted out by security. But, they got rid of security a couple months ago... The supervisors are doing it now. In the past - depending on level - they either gave you a few minutes to git ur sh!t or they told you they'd box up your sh-- and send it to you.

I don't know about you guys but, the only sh!t left in my desk is what I need for work and only for work. All my personal sh!t is gone. Lest you want vultures doing a drive by on your crap...

Man that s-cks. I guess if I had say one thing we have an efficient process for, getting rid of employees would be the only thing I could come up with.

I was a BST. That day I received a text that my ETA had been modified. I logged in to find my jobs missing, even an incomplete from yesterday and a "me only" job. Within ten minutes a text to meet my boss at 10AM. At ten my boss takes a HR lady off hold on his speaker phone, she walks through the news. I return to my desk pick up personal items, then my boss comes in and gets my ID and CC . I drive him to my house where we unload my personal tools, shake hands and drives my new econoline into the sunset.

As others have mentioned there are several methods depending on your location and the volume of layoffs in your area/team. It can come from a group meeting, a one on one meeting or an unscheduled phone call from your manger and an HR rep. If there meeting is scheduled it probably won't show up until just a few hours at most before the cuts. Your last day could be that instant or months in advance depending on whether they need you to train your replacement or not. Whether you are walked out depend on the volume again and your relationship with the manager and their influence. Protocol calls for immediate escorting out of the building for security reasons. Whatever happens life goes on and you will make it one way or another. Don't let this define you. Go through the emotions and keep your head up.

If you see the Grim Reaper get out of a Tesla Model X, you need to pack your bags or hide in the stairwell.

Have a boss or know a team that has a boss that works out of another city? Are they making an unplanned stop to where your team works? Clean out your desk the night before so your box of crap to take out the next day isn’t so heavy

Depending on how you one handles the news, they will generally allow you to collect your belongings BUT not without supervision.

Or you get the call, get notified that you have 30 days.. then get walked out
