Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Forty Years +

I recently saw a posting from the intel alumni group saying there are only 39 remaining employees worldwide at Intel who have been there 40 years or more.

Many checked out rich, but in 100,000 it's hard to believe there aren't more pitiful souls who don't have a life outside of Intel. This just tells me they were all pushed out by BK's purges over the past few years.

@xea, not really true for anyone around in the 70s 80s even 90s there was fierce competition from Japanese memory vendors, lots of CPU architectures (6502, 6800, 68000, national, dec, IBM power, z80....). I would say it's only the post p6 , really the post athalon time frame where you could claim competition was weak. My view is the current situation is back to normal.

We will see if the current crop of politicians, HR, and diverse h1b/contractors can rise to the challenge. I hope they will prevail, but my bet is the learning will involve plenty of Intel's buttocks getting kicked before focus returns to engineering and away from bloviating political and HR experts that are content free when it comes to designing products.

The correct number is 37; I know one of them, amazed there wasn't a cut-and-run with the 2016 ERP...we lost everyone else...probably in the top 5 for longevity...

Millenials are just beginning. Get your generations correct. It was easy for old farts to succeed in a time when there existed no competition and a monopoly advantage.

Current Intel has too many 60 year olds or approaching 60 that should be pushed out. Their obsolete knowledge and experience is no advantage to Intel. What kind of losers to have to work till their final days of life.

So what ? Anyone with 40 years at Intel is now 70+ age (since dumb-Americans don't finish school till late into their 25-27 and begin working late). Are you saying Intel need more old farts ? BK doesn't need to push anyone, that nature does a better job of pushing out of Intel.
