Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

In the end, QC always comes out on top

AVGO, INTC, MTK,... Who's next?!?!

Play the game, get burned!

Shareholder lawsuits are like complaining liberals, ain't nobody got time for that.

Don't hate, appreciate.

QC had long term vision, always has always will.

Even got rid of trouble players before it was a thang thang. Hard luck INTC and TXI, who's next!?

Look around to your QC brothers and sisters and high five them tomorrow. Nationailty and s-x don't matter, we winning FAM!

Nationality is a big factor for promotion, layoff and how you get treated. It is so obvious that manager/director systematically getting rid of certain nationality in their group through multiple layoff. It is called cleansing.

Joke all you want about rounded corners and emojis but Q is Apple’s bztch.

When Apple says jump, Q says how high?

Same thing for Samsung.

David and Goliath...An $18 part has the potential to bring a $900B company to its knees and apple knows it. Commoditize Qualcomm and eliminate strategic differentiation in favor of its competition so they can focus on rounded corners and new emojis.

Apple invented the first GOOD smartphone and is worth literally over 900 billion dollars.

Reality check...

Q is a wireless powerhouse no doubt, but at the end of the day it’s a low margin component of a larger system where most of the value flows to Apple and Samsung.

I agree with OP. Q is, inspite of recent troubles, the best hardware company to work for. It has always been so. Q has signficant inventions in CDMA, 3G, 4G, 5G, RF design. Pray tell me what real technology has the fruit company invented? Rounded edges on smartphones? LOL.

With no growth and low margins, engineers must put out boring iterations of the same thing refined just a little bit every generation.

Large verticals are catching on and getting in on their own custom SOCs (Samsung, Huawei and yes even GOOGLE and now Facebook).

True innovation is stifled as the costs to develop new tech cannot be absorbed due to penny pinching and no growth (see QDT for example, but there are plenty of others).

NXP is a desperate attempt to buy innovation, but large M&A rarely works due to cultural mismatches and political infighting that destroys what was great in first place.

Q is really in a bind. Great engineers that want to innovate don’t go to Q anymore. It’s hard to recruit great talent. Brain drain is a real thing.

Q has a sh!tty low margin business with QCT.

Low margins make life a living hell for engineers as penny pinching rules the decision making process. It’s hard to grow when the market isn’t growing so opportunities for raises and advancement are few and far between.

QTL was great but is under seige by well funded giants and even larger infinite funded governments. It’s not a sustainable model.

Smart engineers have long ago left for high growth and high margin tech firms that compensate fairly for the value produced by the engineers.

Little George is a virgin, hasn't seen anything other than Q in his work life. No stock market crash, no layoff. You will learn it soon :)
