New Stellar program

I have a service anniversary coming up this fall (UG). In the past, Spectra employees were able to choose from a catalogue of gifts, and there will be a small celebration (cake/coffee) acknowledging the milestones From what I hear, the new Stellar award program only offers gift cards that are quite a bit lower than the former Spectra program. No more celebration. Just a gift card and landscape item and that’s it.

Just had my 35th year. Got a racetrack ornament and a meal I didn't attend. Offered some special night out with a few others at 15, 20 and 25, with manager and supervisor, The quickest teams decline I ever did. Started with Union Gas in 1988. Went through a lot of parent companies, but I have never seen or experienced anything like Enbridge and its so called people leaders, lack of training and outright stupidity. Poor and unqualified leaders, supervisors and executives. The only reason I still have a job is we have no competition. Thanks god I can retire in the spring because these mo--ns are going to ki-l someone. And I forgot their diversity program which seems to only allow discrimination if you are Canadian and white. If the best candidate for a job is a WASP and they are bypassed to hire a less qualified minority, this individual has been discriminated against based on the skin color. Anything other conclusion is bullsh-t.

Enbridge's Steller program may recognize employees but it does not offer employees any choices and devalues their contributions. Union Gas is a terrific place to work and long serving employees have built the company into a trusted utility with high brand recognition. When I say I work for Union Gas, everyone knows that the company is trusted, a great place to work and whose employees give back to their communities in so many ways.

Enbridge is strictly concerned about profits and they only pay lip service to community investment. If they want to save money I suggest they cut their head office staff in half (way too many bodies as UG does twice as much work with fewer staff and does a superior job).

Now that they’ve created the Stellar program, I think any gifts the executives give each other should be from the Stellar platform. No more expensive sports jackets and jersey... just trinkets that say “Good Job” in comic sans font. If you think the Stellar program is motivational and makes employees feel valued, then you gotta walk the walk.

What is AF? Is that Canadian term? Boy howdy yall are a sophisticated bunch! Us simple Houston folk drive our nice pickups and wear jeans and boots to work. Shoot, and I'm mighty fine and grateful for that.

That's nice re: collecting icons! I'm very surprised they didn't give people (or their managers) the option to buy them. Why would someone with 20 years + want the CareerScape at all if they are missing icons and have no chance to get them? When someone asked about this in the Yammer, they acted like it had never crossed their mind and reminded us that giving everyone all their milestones would be "prohibitively expensive". I laughed out loud when I read that. They do, however, have a bunch of cheesey special icons you can order for your reports to recognize a special accomplishment. Pretty sure HR pays for them. The special icons all look like the type of thing you'd give a grade school kid as a congratulations for learning how to tie his shoes, or getting through a month without pissing his pants. Not exaggerating... they say stuff like "great job" and "good attitude" in a childish font ...like a sticker you might get on your book report. Anyway, apparently they are looking into making the milestones available for sale now. In the meantime, I have one I'm willing to sell, haha. (PS not really complaining because, whatever, you can't please everyone and at least they tried. Just find the whole thing funny AF)

A bunch of Union Gas employees collected enough of the icons to complete the scape for a UG 40 year recipient. It meant helluva a lot to her and her work mates. That speaks volumes about long service awards.

Not only has the program been gutted, like most recognition under ENB, my icon was so poorly made it didn’t even fit in a slot on the career scape! Cheap crap, thanks for your service.

The catalogue was what Enbridge had for years and the value of gifts for long term employees was more than what there is now. Long story short Enbridge and Spectra probably had similar programs and was consistent with other O&G companies. Fast forward to now and the program while easier to administer for HR and more flexible in the fact you get a credit card to spend on anything the charm of having something specifically for your service or safety participation typically with a company logo is gone. Cash is nice but impersonal and feels like it glosses over the years you put into the company. Your legacy Enbridge pals are in the same boat and equally frustrated with the new program, don't feel alone or that you can't voice your concerns.

Remember Spectra doesn't exist anymore.... its called Enbridge. Enbridge can give you or not give you anything they want....

You get cash now, in the form of a VISA gift card. You can re-use the card for future stellar awards If you want, rather than waiting for them to mail you a new one. The amounts are posted on the Stellar site. I agree the value is lower than the Spectra awards for certain milestones, although some might prefer cash. The celebrations are at the discretion of the manager (or I suppose I should say people leader now... ugh). The cake and coffee stuff is still happening. As always, there is less fanfare for the 5 and 10 year milestones and sh-- really gets real 25+ where family might get invited in. However, not everyone wants that, so some people might get something different. If you want your milestone to be celebrated in a particular way, drop some hints to your people leader. None of this stuff is a secret.

The Spectra milestone gift program was kind of a scam anyway and just cost the company money.

Your thanks for working can be found in your bank account every two weeks.
