@kle - it is normal for outsourced staff to retain Ts&Cs with their new company (CSC in this case) which, of course, they generally did not choose to join as they were not given an option as part of the deal.

The RMG members remained quite strongly unionised and so were able to continue to negotiate effectively on behalf of their members each time the terms came up for renewal.

It's true that most of the similar arrangements have been bought out over the years and it's also significant that CSC recently lost the main RMG contracts. Add to that the stated desire of the DXC HR director (Ted Bundy, if I recall) to "normalise" all Ts&Cs for all DXC employees and this move was, indeed, inevitable.

There aren't a huge number of ex-RMG staff left in the company so it probably doesn't actually save them a huge amount of money. The view of senior management these days is pretty much "save a penny as long as it means we get an extra tenner in our pockets this year"... naturally, the massive exit packages for execs will never be subject to such "efficiencies" so, rather than complain about the people around you having a better package on redundancy after decades of hard work, I would complain about the huge payouts to outgoing managers who have lasted about five minutes under ML.

AFAIK the RMG collective agreement is up for renewal (its a five year term) and DXC have refused to enter into a new one. Therefore those staff will default to standard DXC terms (as opposed to the enhanced ones enjoyed since the CSC-RMG deal).

Not good for those staff but I expect everyone else will say "why should they have got special terms because I don't"

I think they meant the RMG T&C's have not been renewed. If this is true then I think it would reduce the redundancy payout for ex-RMG staff.
