Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

How can people be this naive?

There are people who still to this day believe that their years with the company (and its previous iterations) actually mean something. They truly believe they are safe despite everything - every single layoff so far that had people exactly like them walked out - pointing otherwise.

How is this possible? Honestly, how can somebody be so naive?

DXC is the place you wait for WFR, when you realise this company doesn't give a c-ap about anyone and doesn't reward hard work no payrises no matter how good or hard you work compared to anybody else in your team. Everyone is treated equally bad from the technical gifted to the bottom feederes. When your fed up and ready to leave you won't because you've already acruired many months of WFR payout, just stop giving a c-ap about anything work realted and do as little as possible and if you hold out long enough you realise this place just took away your ability to function in any other functional company you actually become Borg.

Loyalty to DXC is a misnomer as they really don't give a sh1t about their employees. My 20+ years of hard work were crossed out by being WFR'd but now I have less stress, my blood pressure has fallen and I am not answerable to turkeyd1cks. Hold out for a WFR if you can bear the pain that is being inflicted.

@UZA2An9-hef I'm planning something similar, I do have stuff in my onedrive, but I'm planning to make an external backup and fill my onedrive with memes.

I actually thought I was safe but got caught out and issued with redundancy. Fortunately I came out of it well 15 months pay off, into a better paid job next day and now earning 25k more than I was 18 months ago. Yes I fell lucky, yes good T&C's in the UK but what I did find is that there are lots of jobs out there. However if I had not been given redundancy I would still be sat there now waiting on the package rather than jump...

Enjoy retirement I am. People still working at DXC just want someone to care for them. It's ok. They are afraid of the real world hitting them in the face. People you need retirement income, SSA, and good healthcare if you are to make it on the outside. Getting a decent job after 50 is very difficult. Plan plan plan. The November election will really tell what kind of society we will be heading towards in the next 50 years. I sure hope it's not socialism. YOU will be vewy vewy sorry.

It's not naieve, it's financial.

They don't believe they are safe, they believe that 20 or even 30 yrs worth of redudancy cash (say for example in Europe) is worth waiting for. It's not an insubstantial amount to just leave and go somewhere else. To many it helps towards a pension (which is tax free if paid direct into the pot) or allow them to pay off the mortgage and yes it does mean having to go through some pain of waiting to get it.

Although I've heard people getting so fed up that they are thinking if they should forego large payouts to leave anyway, as their attempts to get VR keep getting refused. So the advise to them has always been to 'become a nuisance' and force them to get rid of you. Don't throw the years of potential accrual away, that's what they want'.

There is nothing naive about it. I have been here my entire career and I will not be laid off. I will soon dig into both of the old pensions as well as my 401k on my terms, not theirs.

The key is to actually do nothing, and convince management that you could not care less about your future here. This is a guaranteed full ride ticket on the gravy train.

Once you realize that layoffs are merely an intimidation and power tactic, and act accordingly, you will be safe. Regardless of skill set, age, or any other criteria.

I suspect I’ll get flamed for this; but before you react in an emotional tirade, just think about all of this for a few minutes. If you are as smart as you think you are, you will see the light.

"I just want my big WFR check" Your lucky, in the US it's 8 weeks max and even then in most states it's not a law so we might get nothing.

When I go, every note I ever took is going with me. Nothing on OneDrive all on my harddrive or my backup.

Nobody is safe, everyone is on the list - doesn't matter if you are really truly indispensable and the client can't do without you or if you are the last person who knows about something....

Its not done with any logic around preserving the business as a functional thing, its just cost reduction at any cost.
