Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Just move on from Pearson

I left Pearson years ago and, looking back, the only thing I regret is the amount of time I stayed. The culture is fine for a new-graduate that needs to be micromanaged, but as you gain experience and expertise, you will need to leave to be treated and compensated fairly. It used to be a place where you could build a career, now it is simply a stepping stone to something better. Do yourself a favor and move on before the next round of layoffs. You'll be glad you did.

Agreed 100%. I spent 8 years there, and the first 6 were amazing. The last 2 were the worst two years of my professional life. I will say that the experience gained a Pearson was invaluable, and the developing skills necessary to survive in a toxic, soulless, corporate culture have toughened me up to say the least. I'll admit that I'm enjoying the karma of seeing many of made my last years at Pearson so miserable find themselves on the street. I wonder if they feel treating people so terrible was worth holding on for another year. I also wonder if the current state of Pearson was in line with JF's vision when he took over for MS, or rather a reaction to a multitude of bad $$ decisions over the years.

Shame on Pearson for losing sight of their mission and losing an entire generation of talent many of which are and will be thriving at competitors for many years.

And to all those still there, get out while you can. Life is too short to work with sh*tty people.
