Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

How does Pearson get away with this

This is the worst BTS in my 8 years here and that’s saying A LOT considering the XL platform hasn’t even gone down......yet.

How does Pearson get away with this garbage year after year? How have we, as employees, not revolted??? I’m so sick of the apology tours!!! And sick of people getting laid off in May- no one picks up the pieces all summer long, and then the finger pointing begins in August bc no one knows who was responsible for what! It’s insanity!!! I hope every single one of my customers drops Pearson. It’s inexcusable- they KNOW better.

Leave, move on. You will be glad that you did. Go to a company where you can make a contribution, and be appreciated and rewarded for your efforts and achievements. If you are in sales, you'll land on your feet in no time. If you are on a Product team, your skills transfer to any number of industries. Pearson is a sinking ship. Someday on a future job interview you'll have to justify why you stayed so long at a company that had lost it's way. I'm sure the last few employees a Blockbuster and MySpace felt the same way that you do right now.

Gotta love taking over a new to me school when the last rep, who's wasn't laid off and is still here, didn't roll a single adoption at a very large school, to the newest edition. Now I'm having to pick up the pieces and deal with the scathing emails from the bookstore/instructors. Good times. Makes you wonder what in the h*ll the criteria for the layoff was. Brought to you by....another WTF Pearson decision.

Thought the platforms were about to go down overnight (Major Incident Alert!) but seems to have recovered. There's still time. Wait for it.

Nope, not her. Although she’s equally annoying.

Flamingo Pirate, People Mover and Motivator? Or some such utter nonsense. Is that her? Puke.

Love when the diva replies in the middle of a workday. No wonder this company is in the state it’s in. Sage advice...NOT!

Sounds like some of you should quit. Just a though. A LOT of whining...

Reductions in staff. Selling off profitable susidiaries and properties. No new products. Silent leadership. Failed initiatives and systems. These are all negative business practices, usually signs of a company in dire straits.

History will tell if Cengage made a good bet on CU. They came to market with a new idea, and are now growing their business. Growth and expansion are positive signs for investors, employees, and customers.

I left Pearson years ago and, looking back, the only thing I regret is the amount of time I stayed. The culture is fine for a new-graduate that needs to be micromanaged, but as you gain experience and expertise, you will need to leave to be treated and compensated fairly. It used to be a place where you could build a career, now it is simply a stepping stone to something better. Do yourself a favor and move on before the next round of layoffs. You'll be glad you did.

Abusive at best. We get beaten up, appeased, given a token commission and made to feel grateful we are kept around and part of something amazing. The older we get, the harder it is to think about leaving. Vicious cycle.
