Not sure about lay offs but' December 5, 2018 had a western region meting in Arizona, pulled in all directors, second lines and more. If lay offs are going to happen I think it will begin next week. Why you ask, because it gives enough time to get people off of the books before next year begins; remember the payroll cut off for 2018 will end around the 23rd of the month. Just food for thought.
Never get too excited, Storey and his team still have no idea how to run our company.
We don't do the fiber build but we do the installs...mandatory for years.
I have been thru 4 mergers and half a dozen layoffs. Still standing. No sense worrying, just wait and see. Plenty of jobs available for good techs.
Almost 20 years seen the Qwest, Centurylink, and now L3 so called mergers, same pattern every time 182,000 Employees on the books when I was first at US West, how many now? Don't tell me about ignorance I have been there and seen the same BS stated and the opposite done every time. You must have a Golden Parachute someplace I guess if your pushing this story line.
I hear that mid level management may be blind sided in 4th quarter.
What about the western states? any news about layoffs there in western states? and what about the managers? where are the layoffs of supervisors and managers? How come we have 8-12 techs reporting to one SRO? How many supervisors does a local company need? Really.... You cant keep cutting craft and not touching the managers.
Well most the last fiber build was done with contractors who missed dates, messed things up and then had inside guys go back and audit and repair what they didn't do correctly. Our inside Techs not having the work will justify head count reductions saying they are over staffed.
They have been sitting while all this Layoff and merger stuff and budget hold has been going on and it will be the numbers they use to justify laying more people off. It's how they work, but the budget to areas and then lay off and then hirer contractors after.
Okay, just givIng a warning, but please keep playing ignorant. You must be a union employee
Not true. They are actually restarted the fiber build. More work than ever.
