Can anyone working at the DTC in Newcastle, shed some light on the working atmosphere there? Is it the same as the grim picture painted by the other threads?

To put simply, a customer's digital journey is about removing EVERYTHING from DXC's influence except a sliver of "help line" ticket support via automation.
The ambition is pathetic - and once the help line proceses are automated, there is no reason for DXC to host even that.
DXC's cloud ambition is just a cover for hacking itself into pieces for shareholder benefit.
Cloud model is consulting for the most part.
We are going to take our clients on a digital journey, basically translates to, we will facilitate the handshake with Microsoft and AWS.
DXC know the business and we will sit with the client and the vendor to ensure the requirements are understood. For this we will charge a ‘large’ fee.
Went to Newcastle last week - very Impressed with atmosphere and benefits, but then again I do work at Chorley.
Lots of empty desks lately, a majority of the grads are leaving for better jobs with better pay.
If you look at the jobs board they're constantly hiring externally because they scared everyone off and realised they still need people to do the work.
... So it's the same as everywhere else. Don't know where people get this idea that we think we're superior, everyone on the ground is just angry at the direction we're being taken by upper management.
I worked for DXC in Newcastle until recently. I’m not here to slag them off, they paid my wages and I enjoyed my job for years. However, looking over your shoulder worrying about redundancy isn’t good for you and seeing colleagues being made redundant isn’t either.
Working atmosphere in Newcastle wasn’t good. Lots of experience being replaced by grads. Grads I dealt with were good but with all the cost cutting the company looks like they’re spiralling the drain to me...
F--- DXC. That is what I tell everyone.
Looking at the last review of clients who had used DXC for cloud assistance, DXC scores 4 out of 5. Gartners scoring not DXC's.
Bad points?
'DXC's lack of skills and competence for support which left some contract items with 'to be decided' in them.'
What would they do if they had to deal with DXC again?
-
Insist on: contract without any unknowns or to be decided items
-
Realistic project timelines
3 Key project members need to be local vendor having a better understanding of our business and objectives
- More particiapation in project details
What advice would you give other customers hoping to use DXC?
- Get involved and stay involved. You cannot expect your vendor to fully understand your business and make the right choices ini all cases for your business.
What do you wish DXC should have done differently?
- More local support with better understanding of our business and success factors
Would you recommend DXC to others?
Yes, but with qualifications
Explain your hestitation?
Onshore versus offshore. Too many people offshore without fully understanding how to be successful when working with offshore resources.
What do you like best about the DXC service?
seemed to be well organized and meet our requirements at this time
What did you like least about the DXC service?
Get involved and stay involved. The vendor may get to walk away but you have to live with the results.
There is no growth in Cloud, we are going to a consulting model. Cloud is Microsoft , Amazon or anything newer. DXC can’t compete with the big boys , so it’s changing to try and survive.
Why would any customer come to us , I would go directly to the vendor I was purchasing the service from.
ML is a f---ing joke if he thinks DXC can complete in the new so called Cloud space
Jobs are moving to growth areas around “digital” cloud being part of that, you’re safer there than in other areas of the business
It is really grim... Newcastle only got 1 point so far in premier league :-)
Makes working for DXC feel less painful as have other topics to worry about..
Away the lads!
Do you know if there have been job losses there? especially in growth areas such as cloud?
It's the same grim picture as the rest of the company but with a fair number of the staff deluding themselves that they're different...oh and the office space has a few more tv screens.
