In today's work environment your job is to learn, work hard, max out your 401K and leverage your experience ... to make more money elsewhere. It's that simple. YOU AND YOU ALONE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO MAP OUT YOUR OWN CAREER. You're loyalty should be centered around you're family and close friends. This is the white collar work environment companies have fostered. If companies aren't providing an opportunity to grow, they have only themselves to blame regarding the declining state of their products and/or services. This is the IBM of today and they're not alone. A fair number of other companies have similar work environments. I believe, in the not so distant future, a subset of these organizations will realize that they'll need to step up their game to retain people ... and that my friend will not happen because they received an injection of humanity; it will happen because their financial bottom lines have bottoming out.

A career would never include working for the sh!thole you call IBM
This is new news? Huh?
I have seen some articles recently that say what a new hire makes. Not much less than a 30 year veteran. If you have been with IBM more than 10 years this is another reason to get out, you are being underpaid.
IBM does not pay FMV to most their employees so nobody should take a job like that serious.
Just get as much out of them as possible and move on to a decent company.
Quit pandering to upper mgmt too, they could care less if you fell off the face of the earth.
You're welcome
