Thread regarding IBM layoffs

A few words

RA'd in March and would like to share some thoughts:

I was disappointed and depressed given the situation, reflecting back on things I mostly enjoyed working at IBM, I had great coworkers and it was exciting to work for such a well known company. Unfortunately I was made to feel like a lesser engineer, or someone who isn't capable of performing. To tell the truth, something about IBM didn't feel right to me, it didn't feel like an engineering-positive workplace. I currently have set plans to begin with a new company at a 35% pay raise and with incredible benefits; they seemed to approve of my engineering skills.

My humble advice to IBM:

Please try to innovate; do not take talented people and waste their efforts on end of life products.

Please try to execute; have an end goal in sight, a legion of acquisitions with a ribbon on top is not the same as a great product.

Please try to respect employees; stay competitive with the market, you have some very bright people working for you.

Please try to be engineering positive; put less focus on appearances and marketing, and more focus on producing great software.

Thank you

I am sad that they have let go another genuine, insightful person like you. All that we have left are snake-oil salesmen and hordes of underperforming offshore resources. I’m just wondering when it’s times up for me.

Nice thoughts but Armonk is paying big bonus(s) to the C-Suite only and has zero interest in anything positive save keeping Ginny at the helm. You are defining what IBM WAS ..... not IS or will be. Glad you moved onto to better. Kudos.
