Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Vacation

I was told last year when I was RA’d that I had to use my vacation days. Not repeat , not true. After not budging , my manger re checked and said IBM would pay me for vacation days. If they tell you otherwise tell your manager you want proof. Do not give in . Good luck .

I received a report from IBM HR about a month before I left showing the number of vacations days I would have accrued at the time of my RA date. It was accurate and I received a check for those days about a week before I actually left.

My boss was nice and said don’t claim any vacation so I would be paid. And I was paid. That was a good thing.

You're paid for unused vacation days that have accrued. Regardless of your departure's terms, IBM compares how many days were used against how many have accrued. Either you or IBM (they see vacation as a salary advance) is owed based on the difference.

Use personal holidays first -- you're not paid for any excess.

You are spot on . I was told to take all my vacation, would not be payed only to find out others got payed. I told my manager who then checked and confirmed IBM will pay you for vacation days. Remember, this is not your dads IBM...Evil !

Apply for unemployment day your laid off. then call in weekly, stating your paid with severance. DO NOT WAIT til after severance, you will lose capability in getting unemployment!!!! Gave a friend that works for Unemployment office, some people last time waited too long.
