The sears in des Moines was notified this am that the store will be closing in late Oct.

Wow! That was an owned store, at one time, at least. I think that has to have been in operation for 60 years. They are basically writing off central Iowa, with the closure of what I think was the last Kmart very recently as well.
Yes, merle hay mall, too sad. With that store closing there will only be sioux city left as a full line Sears store in Iowa. And maybe that store got a stealth closing announcement too. Spoke to a manager last night and he confirmed it. Not on the local news but will be later today I am told.

Surprising as this was an A store in a district with the omaha stores at one time and it always was number 1. But it is true. I spoke to an employee earlier and he confirmed the closing, though no official announcement yet.
