If you need confirmation, just call the stores there seems to be no local press, although easily confirmed through employees or even corporate. Some areas have just stopped reporting on SHLD closings.
all Midwest stores closing down. Look at the closings over the last two years. It seems like SHC just wants to be on the coasts and then only in populated areas.

Oops. My mistake. There is neighborhood called that on the IN side of the south suburbs. Guess there's 2 Gas Cities
@zny: not true. I live in the Chicago area and Griffith is just south of Gary. The area is near Gas City.

Pretty uninformative/unhelpful start. How about some details? You didn't even bother to say that's a Kmart. When is it supposedly closing, and how did you find out?
Some Youtuber just happened to visit that particular Kmart a week ago, and it was still open then, with no visible signs of closing.
