Thread regarding Sears layoffs

HE layoffs finally hit the news

Best guess is that the media were waiting for official confirmation via the Illinois Warn Act which was released today for June (detailing the recent layoffs) 89K employees left in total for the org a number which surprised me, I thought it was at least in the 100’s. If “your leadership team and I want you to know that these decisions were not taken lightly or easily” then why do they keep doing it every few months?

Yes our CEO will fill his pockets but this has to be the greatest business failure in recent memory.

@xur Sounds like part-timers should be counted, if Sears did it right.

https://www.manufacturing.net/article/2013/10/five-common-mistakes-employers-make-regarding-warn-act

"The WARN Act defines a “part-time” employee as one who is employed for an average of fewer than 20 hours per week or who has been employed for fewer than 6 of 12 months preceding the date on which notice is required, including workers who work full-time. Part-time employees are not counted for purposes of whether the WARN Act is triggered. However, if WARN is triggered, those part-time employees experiencing an employment loss are entitled to notice."

If sears ever wanted to become profitable they should cut that number in half.

Also there’s a comment out there where it’s no longer news anymore...it’s expected.
