I overheard from a supervisor in passing that there COULD be layoffs tomorrow! He was talking with other people, and he heard from higher officials. Some of these sups do not need to talk when people may be listening.

That’s not really how it works, unless the supervisors are clueless( shocker). A specific amount of $$ is needed to be cut from a particular corporate expense category- it’s loosely translated into percent of workforce. Teams not heavily engaged or involved in mid to long term plans are targeted, depending on the size of the team, managers are told they have to cut x numbers from their team, they pick who they want to get the axe based on their discretion ( are they my friend, am I having s-x with them, am I done having s-x with them, do they make me look good or bad, do they annoy me, donthey need too much effort to get work, etc).
Oh this a big shocker! LOL
