No, this is not some HR bull crap, this is what it truly is like working for our company. I have worked for Mattel/FP for over thirty years and yes we have had a lot of misguided leadership, but what continues to make this company so great, is our sense of family. Our community is relentlessly strong, we stick together, so all you nay sayers have at it...bring it on. But no matter what, we will persevere through all of the negativity that gets thrown at us and because of it, we will continue to create great products!

Actually the purpose of this site is to spread hatred and spew garbage that does nothing to get those unfortunates moving in a meaningful direction. If things were so bad and your family no longer cares about you, perhaps being laid off was a blessing for you? Last two posters: 1st my comments regarding hard work were in response to another post implying BS and politics vs. hard work to maintain long term employment. 2nd, I was laid off years ago, but I moved on...did not find the need to be a cry baby like you two. Get over yourselves...is this what you did when you first relationships went bad? Also, wishing a forced retirement or being let go on anyone is a real testament to your character. No wonder you don’t hear from your so called friends when you were let go. Lastly, the comment about complacency was in regards to every employees work ethics...we all understand the challenge that Mattel is having. Our reliance on Barbie and not realizing her lack of relevance with today’s consumer is the main cause for this sh-t storm we are in. Call it what you will, it is a difficult problem to resolve.
In the mean time, why don’t you both go find something more productive to do with your time...Bit- -s.

This gets my vote for funniest comment of the thread. Mattel is the epitome of complacency as we've lost so much market share for not staying on top of trends and being out of touch with consumers. In other words we've been complacent.
Can’t wait until poster gets let go or forced to retire like everyone else. Then I wonder how long those gushy feelings will last when former family treat him or her as a pariah. Post that stuff somewhere else not on a site for layoff rumors. funny that you think hard work is what separates you from those who got laid off. You are replaceable just like everyone else.

I would suggest you do the same. The friendships you develop go hand in hand with hard work and never settling for complacency. Those friendships along the way are what create that sense of family. It’s called keeping it real in a corporate environment...if that’s what you consider being a “clever political animal,” than yes...I consider it common sense.
