Anyone who knew anything about oil service industry is long gone. All that are left are yes men/women or buddies of incompetent upper managers who are clueless. The ship is sinking and management is worried about crap that will not generate one dollar of income. Arrange the the deck chairs so they will look good on the bottom of the ocean.

Best and most loyal employees? Of course we cannot generalize all but there are a lot of folks that would not be classed as best or loyal left at WFT. Perhaps grateful or scared are categories that need inclusion here.

Grateful that they have a job and therefore do nothing to rock the boat, at least not openly. These are folks that complain behind the scenes but now either because of age, training or other issues they would be hard pressed to find something new. These are the classic "Yes" guys.

Scared are the folks that area actually good hands but lack the confidence or are lazy with regard to job searching or networking to leave the company. They likely have been there 5+ years, just gone through a hard downturn and just need to provide that check for the family - they will ride this until it sinks.

WFT management on their part are not down when it comes to understanding this, a bit arrogant perhaps, but this is one are they manipulate well. They know the folks that are going to take their marching orders without question, they know the ones who are good workers but scared, they know the ones that can get picked up by another company.

You the WFT worker have shown them all this by letting them sh** on you over the last 5-10 years and get away with it.

WFT doesn’t have the money to pay a severance so they just hope you will find another job when you get a temp layoff.

In 2015 all the poor performers and high wage earners got laid off and they had humongous oackages. Since then they continued to lay off the lower performers until all that is left is some of the best employees and the most loyal employees, now the get screwed with this sh--.

3-4 months is actually pretty efficient these days, but everyone knows WFT will hire anyone. I switched companies back in 2012 and it took 10 months from initial interview to acceptance letter.

When I got into the oilfield in 1990 it took 15 minutes over the phone.

Hate to say it, they have done it before and you know that and they will continue to do this. Who is the foolish one.

I typically take the side of the hands, however even when I was working for WFT I knew they did things that were questionable and surely not employee friendly, they justify it by calling it business.

They come back and profess how important the employees are and "One WFT" and such. Great stuff for investors as it gives the appearance of a caring employer and they know it is more expensive to bring on new staff as opposed to keeping what they have. WFT on the other hand has no clue. Look at what it actually takes to hire a new hand, I know when filling a position before I left it took writing the justification and reviewing that with an area manager (now geozone). After they were happy we had to make sure Marky was going to approve for the US, once we had that it could actually go into the system. You then had to contend with HR getting things done correct and the delay in those that already said they would approve actually approving. The fun started then with a recruiting team that did not know much about anything and simply gave you the first 15 or so applicants. for the position I had posted I later found that there was over 200 applicants, no one even looked at the overall majority, maybe 40 were actually reviewed. organize interviews and bring everyone in and then we finally get to the offer letter, everyone questions it again and you get it approved. Process, about 3 to 4 months. Then you bring them on and attempt to do training at WFT. Well training is an oxymoron there essentially so we will leave it at that.

long story, you know what you were dealing with so why are you surprised. Change you future and find something/anything different.

Sounds like someone needs to go on stress leave when they get back to work. Have a bout of aniexity, get a doctors note, go all in, they won’t touch you. Or have a WCB incident, ditto, they won’t touch you. Wayyyy too much of a human rights case for them wanting to touch. Even better, call OH&S and report them for some infraction, an inspector will come. let it slip to someone that likes to gossip that it was you. The management playbook is to lay you off. Take the layoff then go after them for intimidating you and forcing you to sign your termination papers. Just make sure to use words like ‘intimidation’ and alike when sitting with HR and the manager. Fess up to calling ohs and have some fun. Cha friggen Ching, with a final F U!
