Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Moral is at an all time low

No wonder why moral is at an all time low. Layoffs are needed just to keep the lights on. But yet all we hear from the fat cats is how great things are running as departments are sending jobs overseas again and having the people left do more and more of the work. Never any accountability at the top , they just keep reading books and model the standards around them. We have no identity anymore and the public hates us. I pity the poor employees that invest their hard earned 401k money in this company. Maybe that's how TLON should be paid by way of windstream stock, nah he would be on food stamps then.

Charter spectrum does ship you preprogrammed boxes. I called in to get service today and since my residence is already wired, I just call in to get my device activated once it arrives in the mail. No tech needed. I’m pretty sure i can get it activated online too.

Why would we need techs at all if we just mail preprogrammed boxes to customer sites? They have us killing ourselves for what? They are going to layoff most of us before this is up, our best bet is the company that buys our parts keeps us around. Well or finding work for a better company for better pay and benefits and less rolling layoffs and leadters that actually know what they are doing and care about their people

I’m honestly surprised that hasn’t been automated yet. Other companies I’ve worked for have work routes automated pretty efficiently.

It astonishes me that departments like SAG, BTAC, and NCC aren’t completely automated. Correct me if I’m wrong but other companies don’t have these departments because everything is automated. If records weren’t such a big issue, there’d be no need for us.

There may be some aspects of each department where you’d need a couple of people for doing jobs like DSLAM cuts, but the fact that a technician has to call in to get pins provisioned or get dial tone is an idiotic waste of money.

I am sorry but yes it is true of the planners being eliminated by end of 2018. Win has invested in tablet computers for all CSTs. The first rollout of these tablet PCs will begin in GA. These tablet computers will incorporate the new tech dispatch software.

Sounds exactly like Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which is another company that has been "MBA'd" into the ground.

I can see the planners being let go...i have been reading snippets of how the techs will be self dispatched or at least be dispatched locally

more layoffs from the planner group coming. Rolling out a new way for techs to grab jobs when work is needed. Setting up complete automation for techs and their routes , this is the first stage of the rollout. The plan is to completely remove all planners by the end of the year.

Layoffs every 3-4 months. Offices getting smaller and smaller. A changed logo and reverse split to try to change the outlook of a sinking ship led by leadership that gets huge raises still. Outsourcing after a huge tax break ?? You still cannot fix it ? The telecom industry is struggling but as fast as the ship is sinking is no excuse. Piss poor leadership. I still hope the best but i am a realist. Unless leadership changes from the upper top i do not see it staying afloat. Hence moral is low all across the company who works under this leadership from the top.
