Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

The company is going down fast

The cost cutting is significant at Fidelity. We used to have catered meals for reward luncheons. Now it’s bring your own sandwich. Up to about year ago they had campaigns which were sales bonuses and were quarterly paced. Payed out as points that could be used to buy anything. Last one I earned 360 perk points for a campaign that lasted 6weeks, that translates to about $500 on credit i could use to basically shop on amazon. We haven’t had a campaign since that one. They have completely eliminated an incentive that benefited me at least $1000 per year for doing my job well.

The company is going down fast with the outflow from managed mutual funds. And outflows from their sh--ty PAS managed account. Literally it’s the same as their lifecycle funds. Same managers etc. but they charge upwards of 1.2%. Horrible company and horrible business practices.

When is HR going to check the social media accounts of the employees when they lay off? Several are posting all day long about their manicures, facials, massages, golf and beach time when they are “working remotely”. It’s getting old seeing how employees are really stealing from the company.

It is crazy... The cost cutting, getting rid of employees, after making $4.2 bil and onto $5-$6 bil this year (this is after paying high interest on fmr debt owned by the higher ups).

Forget pas, compare returns for a non-pas life cycle fund to the s&p 500 index fund and you'll really feel ashamed to work there. Fidelity pushes just about every customer into these life cycle funds, it should be criminal. It only benefits Fidelity, not the customer.

Your right, it has been going down hill for a while. A few years ago it became clear to me that Fidelity stopped valuing its employees. I had a meeting with a manager where she graphed how my value to the company decreased with time- justification for no raise that year. Right after that meeting I enrolled in college in a different field. I used Fidelity to pay for school the next two years and just recently quit to start a new career. Best thing I ever did!

Position your self well so that you have other options. Don't wait. I know it s---s working and going to school but it goes by fast. They payoff is great when you can tell your manager to go f@#k themselves.

If your heart has left, let your body leave with it. Why anyone would stay at a company they disparage is beyond me....
