Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

What’s happening in Florida is going to happen in Vegas. Read below previous post

N. Central Florida all Field techs approved for voluntary package. Force reduced by 25% and shifting areas to give the SROs more head count to keep their job. There will be more packages offered at end of summer and qtr. Once they get more PRISM customers to switch to DTV. They are not upgrading Florida plant and all the techs hired to work PRISM are not needed. With no upgrades or plant maintenance it's left to rot. Plus Comcast is coming in our gated retirement communities where we have 90% of the customers. They will be taking most of them because few can get 25meg most are 10meg. But Comcast burying fiber and 1g speeds. Not looking good at all. We will not be able to retain customers and they will not spend to compete. Yet cable company still upgrading and putting cable in areas. Good way to lose more techs. Then in a few years change job titles dare union to strike. Get out now or next package or be stuck with a dead end dying career at CTL.

So VEGAS is not selling prism anymore. Vegas is not fixing prism any more. Customer are being advised to go to direct tv. We are not Putting in any new fiber or cable. A lot of customers can’t get more than 20 meg, if they can get 10. Company is focused on business customers. They don’t want residential customers. They have way too many I/R techs and cable techs. They are the next to go. Then carrier, construction, and network techs.

The company will change the name of the techs and if you held a previous title it won’t matter. You haven’t held the new title. The company has already done this and will continue to do it. See past postings. The union has not and will not do anything about this. The next contract will be awful. Be ready. It’s coming.

Boise Idaho. Yeah that's gonna save the day. I mean Boise must be the backbone of the company. Florida not doing it, glad Boise is holding it down. How many customers does Boise have about? In Colorodo CTL purchased tons of poly fiber, but once the merger was done, the work stopped. The reels are just locked up and not being put to use as planned. This post is dead on. Same thing happening in North Carolina and from what hearing company wide. This isn't bashing the company this is just facts. Denial isn't just a river in Eqypt you have to see writing on wall. Level 3 wants 30 techs to one SRO. So they reducing the techs then reducing the managers. It's reality and hopefully your union has a good voluntary package bonus because they will threaten to do involuntary layoffs if they don't have the "numbers" it's a scare tactic game. If your area hasn't been hit yet, get ready and hold on tight.
