Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Culture

The very sad part is that everyone knows that bullying/intimidation is going on and not doing a darn thing about it. It's acceptable and unlike the playground bully, one cannot go up to them and throw a nice uppercut at them to make them go away.

Those bullies seek out other insecure managers and walk around shoving people out of their way. It's sad that bullying is a national problem particularly in schools globally. Pearson being an education company should do all they can to speak against bullying but cannot because it is rampant within the organization.

There are senior leaders at Pearson who drive employees to tears each day and they have minions doing the same thing with their teams. For every employee boasting about how great Pearson is to work for, there are 10 others in fear of theirs jobs due to the harassment and bullying they are experiencing from their manager.

Those leaders know who they are....probably not so tough outside of work and insecure with their inner well being.

What if we framed “professional skills” as a teachable discipline and positioned students to thrive in an atmosphere that runs on resilience just as much as technical know-how?

There shouldn’t be bullies at all. Especially adults. You’re really going to make it far in life 🙄 How immature can one be. You’re probably one of the managers that got demoted to a rep.

Go away, cheerleader. Isn’t there a manager you need to praise somewhere?

This post is... what to say. Someone of authority that has influence over your ability to earn a living can most certainly bully regardless of someone's "spine" status. Have the last few months of news stories not hit your radar? I am only to believe that you must head up the Harvey Weinstein fan club.

"Bullies pick only on the weak. If you are constantly being bullied then the problem is not them. Grow a spine."

Boston has been a sh---show of toxic culture for over a decade.

Absentee management at best. I've seen or heard:

People leaving meetings in tears

Management discriminating against non-whites & documented in email

Homophobia and g-- slurs

S-xual harassment (IT guys making female staffers uncomfortable)

Xenophobia and racial slurs

Manager/EA hookups in restricted areas

Staffers openly watching p--n during work

Rampant lying by management

Staffers smoking cannabis before work

Insecure managers scapegoating staff

Manager getting physical (pushing) a staffer

People ordering desk copies for their home "libraries"

People taking and reselling desk copies for personal profit

People coming at 10am and leaving at 3-3:30pm regularly

Manager calling a staffer a "b--ch" to their face

Favoritism with regard to unneeded tech resources

Someone regularly jamming toilets w ripped up pages of the Koran

Rampant nepotism including hiring family members for the summer

Manager complaining that she never made so and so cry

The ironically named "Come to Jesus" meetings let by a totally inept SVP

Staffers drinking alcohol at lunch

Managers ridiculing staffers

etc etc etc

Pearson is the definition of the #metoo movement. What’s ironic is that it’s a company made up of mostly Democrats and left wing extremists 😂
